NBC will be filming a TV special on Monday, December 6, entitled
"A Day In The Life Of The President", to be aired on Tuesday,
December 21, at 7:30 p.m. Approval for filming this special was given
contingent upon the White House reserving total rights to delete any and
all material that does not meet with White House approval. This is to be
a one-hour special intended to capture, realistically, all of the activities
of you as President. The schedule for the day that will be filmed was
planned accordingly.
The NBC film crews will be positioned in all of the rooms where you are
scheduled to work or conduct meetings. Their basic guidelines, however,
are threefold:
(1)
Utilize the absolute minimum technical personnel and
mechanical equipment, e.g., lights and cameras.
(2)
Remain as unobtrusive as possible at all times.
(3)
Be prepared to depart any meeting immediately upon
notification that the matter under discussion is sensitive
or that their presence is not desired at that time.
In certain meetings, particularly the Congressional Breakfast, the Quadriad
and the meeting with Prime Minister Trudeau, the staff member present will
indicate to the camera crew when the public portion of the meeting has con-
cluded and they must depart. For other sessions in your office, such as
meetings with staff members, should you wish the camera crew to depart,
please BUZZ BULL THREE TIMES and I will come in and usher the camera
crew out of your office. They will remain outside until I am advised that
they may again be present.
