AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED PERSONS
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
June 25, 1971
There is an old story about a man who went to his doctor one
day and asked what he should do SO that he would live to be 100.
1. The doctor's response was that the man should give
up everything -- his work, his play, his friends - -
and do nothing that would cause him to exert himself.
(1) " And then you can promise me I will live to
be 100 ?" the man asked.
1. "No," said the doctor, " but it sure will
seem like it !"
The doctor had a point.
1. For nothing ages a person faster than the feeling
that he is unneeded, unwanted and unproductive.
