All nets, noting RN's readiness to increase security for Israelis and possibly US Jews, w/film of Rogers before hijack conference as US uses the terror to push for stronger action against hijackers McG on ABC/NBC blaming Egypt and Lebanon in a what NBC called "forceful condemnation" as he received a "warm" reception from Rabbis. ABC w/report from Hilton Head on McG's problems there and CBS had report, very favorable to Common Cause Suit against 1701. THE OLYMPIC TRAGEDY FROM MUNICH ABC's Smith opened by saying that despite a few bad decisions by judges, some disappointments and some petty mistakes, the Olympics were on their way to becoming the "pleasant" Olympics, but as one athlete said, they' re now the "bloody Olympics. 11 AP leads: "A record for confusion was set after the hostages were seized and police plotted ways to rescue them alive. " Uncertainty over what was actually happening plagued coverage, and the swiftly changing nature of the story, coupled w/German officials' desire to issue good news, caused much confusion Film on ambush on all nets that left day's death toll at 17.
