The major weekend stories:
- - RN/Brezhnev led Sat nets, most Sat/Sun papers, were
featured in hour-long specials on WWH departure Sun.
and in recaps of weekend following Brezhnev's Sun.
address. Friendship, cooperation, end to Cold War
are frequently heard themes. Comment is straight-to-
quite favorable w/ some conservative criticism and some
liberal
niggling.

plane, and of air pact signing. Papers and Sun nets w/
photos from WWH party and RN/Brezhnev walking about
the area. In addition to the live coverage, all Sun nets
w/ film of following either in news shows or following
Brezhnev speech: Communique signing w/ brief RN
remark and Brezhnev's prompted -- "goodbye, 11 golf
cart ride, meeting w/ astronauts, the embrace w/
Chuck Connors and the departure from E1 Toro. Astro-
nauts also on NBC film being welcomed by 5,000 at
San Diego. Nets noted remark of the mask-less Conrad
to RN/Brezhnev: "If we catch a cold, it'd be an honor
to catch from you 2." And also noted was Brezhnev
praise of their bravery. Much positive comment on
Brezhnev personally.
- - A look at the weekend press coverage of summit: "US,
Soviets Call New Cooperation Irreversible Plan" leads
Sun. Trib where Starr concurs w/ HAK that "while less
than spectacular, the 11 agreements, taken together,
create a web of relationships which totally changes the
pattern of postwar foreign policy. 11 .... "Final Accord
Due" is short piece at bottom of Sun. Star's P. 1.
"Brezhnev Extolls A-Pact/Praise Given" is #2 Post
story.
"Astros to Join RN/Brezh" tops P. 2 in NY
News w/ story below: "RN, Brezh Wrap Up Peace Deal!"
