Ford was questioned not as if he were to be a VP, noted all nets, but as if he were to become Pres. ABC/NBC clips featured Hatfield probing as to what RN should do to improve situation. Ford feels RN can save his Presidency if he communicates w/ public, makes available documents demonstrating his innocence and if he gets help from the many people whom Ford expects to back RN. Ford feels RN will finish w/a "fine record. 11 Mudd emphasized perhaps unconscious move by Ford to maintain a discrete separation from RN on media, AG resignation and CBS had lengthy clip of Ford on needed qualities in a Pres. w/emphasis on truth and believability. Dominick on ABC/NBC w/CBS note called on RN to make disclosure of all relevant material and urged GOP to declare its independence from WH. He said he was "damned mad" about unwarranted links of W'gate to GOP Goldwater on NBC alone said RN shouldn't be impeached nor should he resign -- nothing's been proven wrong so far, said BG In only KB report, Jarriel said there may be "yet another" WH legal move to take steam out of latest criticisms and he emphasized WH view that RN has flatly ruled out resigning NBC w/film of Welcome Home party for HRH in LA as he was in high spirits but declined comment on 'gate or tapes.
