after they shared barbs at press.
Jarriel saw US as principal initiator of the talks given that
they were contrary to RN's long-held philosophy of need for
careful preparations of summits and that only last week WH
had said this wasn't proper time or place for such talks.
Overall, Jarriel feels sessions were more of cosmetics than
substance.
Over film from Notre Dame, ABC noted RN, w/ impressive
security, was the most famous of reps of 65 countries at the
dignified tho simple ceremonies. Brief clip of RN/Podgorny.
Beckman felt Miamian Mandel was embarrassed when RN
asked if he were there to get some new girl friends. As in wires,
Beckman also notes "God Bless You" greetings from some in
crowd that was much friendlier than what RN sees in US. "ThereE
wasn't a single detractor.
