KC Times asks why EMK would want to knife GVN by blocking
emergency military assistance. Clearly it's N. Viets that are the
aggressor. "Somehow EMK and other MCs who in effect would have
US abandon its support of GVN don't see the inconsistency in a
willingness, even eagerness, to help Israel defend itself w/
$2. 2B arms program while turning thumbs down on SVN whose
independence is more immediately threatened. 11 S. Viets deserve
a better fate.
CBS AM's Duvall noted WWII vets like Dole and McG say
college costs have outpaced GI benefits, as Dole on film said
solons may differ on VN war but they agree on need for adequate
vets treatment. Then Mondale charged RN's call for a new study
of benefits "too little and too late. 11 There's a gap between WH's
rhetoric and policy

VN vet Van Doren, who's now "fighting the war of inflation. 11
$8,000 in debt, the UCLA law student must work to support wife
and 2 kids as GI benefit only covers the rent. Van Doren on
film said having to work affects study time and grades, but
there's no other way.
CBS AM's Collingwood noted, doubtless because of W'gate,
British reporters are pressing on an investigation of scandal
around Wilson despite suits which would have halted press
coverage normally. Wilson has been hurt politically tho it's unclear
what this means for his govt. Conservatives won't give him a free
ride tho.
