TOP SECRET - 4 - The Thai gave a rundown on military developments in Laos and Cambodia. They described the situation in Burma as also being of concern to them, fearing that anti-government forces there might join Communist elements to overthrow the government. You might wish to ask: - - What is the Thai sense of urgency about the military situation in Laos, Cambodia, and Burma? (This last is a new point, incidentally. ) How do they see Vietnam and Vietnamization? - - Do Thanat and the others really understand our problems with Congress and with public opinion, including the press? There will be a photo opportunity with the press immediately after your meeting with the Vice President. TOP SECRET
