Bill Barr of OPD briefed these leaders and answered their questions about the President's proposed voluntary prayer in school amendment. Many of these religious leaders arrived skeptical but the meeting developed into almost a rally ehalf of the amendment. Rev. Jerry Moore, Republican member of the C. City Council, announced his intention, for instance, of taking steps to have his National Baptist Conference endorse the amendment. At 4:00 p.m. worked with this group on a televised panel discussion for Johnson's "From Washington with Love" program.
