Washington D.C. 20082

Dear Sir:
I thought that you would get a kick out of looking at a
copy of the first U.S. income tax form in 1913.
This form involves
1) one sheet of paper vs the 137 different income tax forms
presently printed this year.
2) No tax owed up to $20,000 of income.
3) Then 1% of the income from $20,000 to $50,000.
4) 2% from $50,000 to $75,000 and so on.
5) Special exemption of $3,000 and or $4,000 as the case may
be.
How about this?
Wouldn't some sort of flat tax like this simplify the
whole complicated and sophisticated business of collecting
income taxes - not to mention the millions saved for Uncle
Sam?
Sincerely,
Ed Hammer
