As you approach the Valley, the airplane will circle the area which would have become the lake impounded by the dam. On the bus tour of the Valley, you will see an experimental organic farm, the Indian farmlands and an Indian clinic, converted from a former school with funds from an HEW grant. Recently, vandals destroyed the clinic by fire. You may wish to consider telling the Indians when you meet them that you will discuss with Cap Weinberger possible ways and means to find replacement funds to rebuild the clinic. Among those attending the Indian Tribal Council meeting will be Norman Whipple and Mrs. Ida Soares, who were leaders of the group at the time of the dam controversy.
