O O P Y MAYO CLINIC Rochester, Minnesota. June 17th,1925 Dr. Frederick B. Flinn, 437 West 59th St. , New York?N.Y. Dear Doctor Flinn: Doctor Sanford has referred your letter to me for attention. As Doctor Sanford has mentioned to you, it is our aim to ward off any local or systemic effect in our workers. I have observed some of them in whom no effect has been noted and they have been in the work for many years. In my experience, I do recall a few, however, who developed lassitude and lack of appetite, and I recommended that they discontinue the work. The local or digital effect in those who handle radium is obvious and certain to happen if precautions are not taken. The sustemic effect due to long exposure to the mass of radium is not so well established. I am enclosing the literature as well as two reprints. I shall be glad to keep in touch with you and learn of the developments from time to time. You may rest assured that I am deeply interested in the subject and if I can be of any further service, please do not hesitate to call on me. Very truly yours, (signed) Harry H. Bowing
