J.\nFebruary 2, 1926.\nDear Dr. Flinn:-\nI am very favorably impressed with your report and it seems to\nme as though you have covered the subject as well as it could\nbe in the time you have had. I hardly feel qualified to criticize,\nbut have ventured to introduce a few slight changes in the text,\nand present herewith a few matters for your further consideration.\nPage 2, end of first paragraph. What about the use of nuvocaine\nas compared with cocaine?\nPage 9, para raph 2. I infer that the man you speak of is Leman.\nThe total quantity of radioactive material determined was 0.015\nmg instead of 0.048 as you have. I am inclined to think that the\nvariation in the Leman and Mallifer cases may be partly explained\nby the different types of bones used for analysis in the two\ncases.\nPage 10, last paragraph, compare. It is not surpriseing that\npersons around a crystallizing plant or those coming in frequent\ncontact with the concentrated material show the pres nce of\nradioavtive substances in the body. The effects detected may be\neither from solid substances deposited in the body that enit\npenetrating gamma radiation or from the saall quantitAties of the\ngaseous disintegration product (radon) which may be in the\ncirculatory system. Both cases examined were exposed to rather\nlaege quantities of emanation the day prior to there our tests.\nPage 11, last sentence, continued on page 12. I note that you\nhave made no further reference to the fogging of the dental film.\nPage 17. Don't you think it would be well to introduce a sentence\nstating that the quantity of material found in the pig killed\n15 minutes arter the injection was representative of that in-\njected into the other animals.\nPage 17, at the bottom. In reading is few notes in one of the\nrecent scientific journals giving a report of the papers present\nat the Kansas City meeting of the Association for the Advance-\nment of Science, the last week in December, I find reference to\na very interesting article by S. C. Lind of the Fixed Nitrogen\nResearch Laboratory on the activity of one alpha particle in the\nproduction of physical and Ehemical changes, 10 to 15 fold that\nwhat has been ordinarily ascribed to it. You will recall that\nDr. Schlundt mentioned this matter. Lind's work is not reported\nin full but will appear later. This may be a very vital factor\nin this work.\nReport enclosed.\nVery truly yours,"
