Mr. A. Roeder, President
the
United States Radium Corp.
#30 Church St., New York City.
Dear Mr. Roeder:
You will recollect my telling you that
apart from any liability under the State Compensation law,
arising out of the death of our chemist, Mr. Buckley, we in-
tended to continue to pay his salary to his widow for an in-
definite period.
Inasmuch as all applications to the Compensation Board
must be made within one year, we are anticipating, from in-
formation recently received, that the widow contemplates an
action to have the Board pass on this case.
What is the status of your Company in respect to the
death of Dr. Lehman?
As these two cases are more or less parallel, and as the
outcome of the Board's decision is a matter of interest to
both of us, I would suggest that in event of the above action
arising we be prepared to present to the Board a joint de-
fense.
Dr. Miner expects to see you in New York tomorrow and you
may find it opportune to discuss this matter with him. At any
rate I want to inform you as to the possibilities in our
situation and to know if you are prepared to acquiesce in
a joint defense.
Yours
very tours. Prosident
