МОСИАЯОМЕМ ЯОТЯНТИ .D.A.S.U stad to notingitA 107 to .omeM guirswanA July 12th, 1926. Department of Labor and Industry, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Attention: - Dr. Elisabeth B. Bricker. Gentlement- Enclosed herewith you will find an article entitled "Radio Active Material an Industrial Hasard?", by Dr. Prederick B. Flinn, Ph. D., Assistant Professor of Physiology in Industrial Hygiene, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, which treats of the so called "radium necrosis" or radium poisoning cases. The investigation by Dr. Flinn, which formed the basis of his article, has been by far the most thorough and far reaching work undertaken on this subject. This article will appear in one of the early issues of the Journal of the American Medical Association. While it seems that the charge of "radium poisoning" caused the death of several girls (which charge was widely advertised through the press a few months ago) is entirely unfounded, we naturally hesitate - without further investigation - to make the broad statement that radium in luminous material is unharmful, although we believe this to be the case Therefore, in order to be on the safe side, we cention you, if you have not already done so, to order your operators not to point their application brushes between their lips. Whenever we receive any further authentic information on the subject, we shall be glad to pass it along to you. Yours very truly, President. CBLEE: OB Enclosure (1)
