Gentlement-
Enclosed herewith you will find an article entitled
"Radio Active lintorial an Industrial Hasard?", by Dr. Froderick B. Flinn,
Ph. Dee Assistant Professor of Physiology in Industrial Hygiene, College
of Physicians and Burgeons, Colunbia Univorsity, which treats of the
so called necrosis" or radium poisoning casos. The investigation
by Dr. Flimm, which formed the basis of hie article, has been by far the
most thorough and far reaching work undertaken on this subject. This
article will appeaz in one of the early issues of the Journal of the
Amerioan Medical Association.
Whlle it seems that the charge of "radium poisoning*
caused the death of gevernl girls (which clarge tas widoly advertised
through the press a for months a.go) is entirely unfounded, wo naturally
hesilate - withous furthor investigation - to nalce the broad statement
that radiuz in luninous material is unharmful, although we believe this
to be the case. Therefore, in order to be on the safe side, we caution
you, 1f you have not already done 30, to order your operators not to
point their application brushes between their lips.
Vhenever we receive any further authentic information
on the subject, tre shall be glad to pass it along to you.
Yours very truly,
Presidente
