Dear Mr.
Enclosed herowith you will find an article entitled
"Radio Active Naterial an Industrial Hazard?", by Dr. Frederick B. Flinn,
Ph. De, Assistant Professor of Physiology in Industrial Hygiene, College
of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, which trests of the
so called "radium necrosis" or rodium poisoning cases. The investigation
by Dr. Flinn, which formed the basis of his article, has been by far the
most thorough and far reaching work undertalten on this subject. This
article will appear in one of the early issues of the Journal of the
American Modical Association.
mhle it seems that the charge of Fradium poisoning"
caused the death of several girls (which charge was widely advertised
through the preas a fow months ago) is entiroly unfounded, we naturally
hesitate - without further investigation - to malce the brond statement
that radium in luminous material is unharmful, although we believe this
to be the case. Therefore, in order to be on the safe side, we caution
you, if you have not already done 30, to order your operatórs not to
point their application brushes between their lips.
thenever we receive any further authentic information
on the subject, we shell be glad to pass it along to you.
Yours very truly,
President.
