UNITED STATES RADIUM CORPORATION - THE LUMINITE CORPORATION V. EDNA HUSSMAN Report of Elizabeth C. Lewis: April 25, 1928. Mrs. Dorthea Thomson, 419 Roseville Ave., Newark, N. J. Returned to the above address at 4:30 P. M. Met Mrs. Thomson whom I found to be a young woman of pleasing per- sonality, receiving mo in a cordial manner. Said her sister Mrs. Farley, had advised her of my visit. Regarding Mrs. lidna Hussman, said while she is acquainted with her, knows very little of her activities, etc. Never met her until they moved into the apartment at 448 Rose- ville Avenue. Were never intimate friends, would exchange greet- ings, now and then conversing on different topics when meeting in the back yard and about the house. Said they were very common, narrow-minded people and very crude in their mannerisms. Consid- ered them far beneath her standing. It would be a great embar- rassment to her to have to be involved in any court proceedings. For this reason alone she would not commit herself in any way. Finally said "Well, it is true, Mrs. Hussman did fall down the back stairs at her home. Accident happened at the time her sis- ter, Elsie gave birth to a child out of wedlook". Date she could not remember, but thinks it was in the early part of July, 1925. Exact date can be verified by going to the Women's Maternity Hospital, Central Avenue, where Elsie Bolz gave birth to her child. Said, She, Mrs. Thomson, a1d not witness the accident, all she knows of the occurence is what Mrs. Hussman herself relat- ed to her, that through excitement she slipped as she started down the steps and sustained an injury to her hip. Sheet #2 UNITED STATES RADIUM CORPORATION - THE LUMINITE CORPORATION v. EDNA HUSSMAN April 25, 1928. Mrs. Dorthes Thomson: Its. Thomson said she would gladly assist me in any way she could but positively refused to be implicated in any court proceedings, and refused to give me a signed statement as to what she had related. Laughed and said, "If you knew what I know about the Hussman's and the Bolz's, you would hesitate also in giving any information. I tell you they are the most terrible people I ever had dealings with. It will pay you to investigate them thoroughly and learn for yourself the reputation of these people". Advised me to locate and interview Dr. Lee's Family saying they may be able to enlighten me more than she would. Also referred me to a Mr. William Rhinehardt, landlord of building at 448 Roseville Avenue, saying that he would be able to give me additional information regarding Mrs. Hussman's fall down the back steps.
