Gentlemen:-
This Bureau is contemplating the issuance of
instructions covering the handling of radio-active sub-
stances used in the construction of luminous dials for
instruments, etc. We are particularly interested in the
symptoms and pathology of any disease processes which
might result from their injudicious handling and the most
satisfactory method of avoiding the developement of these
symptoms on the part of those handling them.
If your files contain information on these ques-
tions, or if you can refer us to literature bearing on these
subjects, your early reply will be greatly appreciated.
Very sincerely yours,
P
Treat
E. R. STITT,
Surgeon General, U. S. Navy.
