September 26th, 1928. Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. Dear Dr. Schlundt: I was talking to Dr. Craver today and he advised that the physical examination of the five girls has been completed, that the blood and urine analysis as well as complete X-ray films are now before them, and that their next step will be to make the electroscopic test for presence of radio-active materials. Dr. Carver asked if we would be satisfied to have Dr. Fialla make this examination, to which I replied of course, that it would - stating, however, that we would appreciate an opportunity to discuss the matter with Dr. Fialla, prior to his tests. In this connection it would be very desirable to have a preliminary draft of your notes to present to Dr. Fialla or the Committee so that they might have them at their command. Unfortunately I don't believe Dr. Flinn is going to be of much assistance to us in this investigation to which we cannot raise any great objection, primarily on the grounds that Dr. Flinn was associated with the litigation. Inasmuch as Dr. Fialla is associated with Memorial Hospital, where both Dr. Ewing and Dr. Craver are, they are naturally very much in favor of having him do this work. As far as I know the work at the Memorial Hospital consists of gamma ray measurements only, and it is for this reason that I personally feel that Dr. Fialla should have some instruction when he starts to make measurements other than the gamma ray type. With kind regards, I am Cordially yours, HHBarker:RH Vice President.
