January 31, 1929.
Mr. H. H. Barker,
535 Pearl Street,
New York City, New York.
Dear Mr. Barker:
Your letter of the 29th received and I assure you
that my efforts to have you take advantage of an ideal con-
dition to better the desperate situation, which we all find
ourselves in, have ceased.
My contention originally was, and still is, that
there is absolutely no relation between redium when mixed
with the other ingredients which compose the so called
radium paint, and radium chloride as used therapeutically
and as a group of physicians see it (and with whom I agree)
there is absolutely no excuse for your company allowing a
few reporters, who make their living by writing sensational
articles which are mostly denied in the next day's issue of
the same paper when the facts are discovered, to run you
into a corner, knock you down and kick in your ribs, and
you continue to lie there without so much as raising a prow
testing fingero It is just as reasonable to claim that
because some man was run over on the railroad track, that
the general public should not ride on the train.
I am sorry this condition exists and the future of
Radium for internal administration seems hopeless to me, and
it makes me doubly sorry that suffering humanity is deprivedid.
of one of the most beneficial therapeutic agents, and is so
recognized by physicians who have used it successfully over
a period of years.
Very truly yours,
H.M. H. M. Arnstrong
