RADIUM SPECIAL SERVICE RADIUM'SOLUTIONS IN RADIUM THERAPEUTICS RADIUM BATHS APPLICATORS TO ORDER THE RADIUM EXTENSION SERVICE NOT INC. MEDICAL & DENTAL ARTS BLDG. 185 NORTH WABASH AVE. TELEPHONE DEARBORN 1665 CHICAGO, ILL. January 31, 1929. Mr. H. H. Barker, 535 Pearl Street, New York City, New York. Dear Mr. Barker: Your letter of the 29th received and I assure you that my efforts to have you take advantage of an ideal con- dition to better the desperate situation, which we all find ourselves in, have ceased. My contention originally was, and still is, that there is absolutely no relation between redium when mixed with the other ingredients which compose the so called radium paint, and radium chloride as used therapeutically and as a group of physicians see it (and with whom I agree) there is absolutely no excuse for your company allowing a few reporters, who make their living by writing sensational articles which are mostly denied in the next day's issue of the same paper when the facts are discovered, to run you into a corner, knock you down and kick in your ribs, and you continue to lie there without so much as raising a prow testing fingero It is just as reasonable to claim that because some man was run over on the railroad track, that the general public should not ride on the train. I am sorry this condition exists and the future of Radium for internal administration seems hopeless to me, and it makes me doubly sorry that suffering humanity is deprivedid. of one of the most beneficial therapeutic agents, and is so recognized by physicians who have used it successfully over a period of years. Very truly yours, H.M. H. M. Arnstrong HMA/GM
