November 22nd,1929. Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of lissouri, Columbia, No. Dear Dr. Schlundt: I am returning to you herewith note book in which data taken at Chicago was recorded, together with computation and sumary of this date. There are one or two points of record about data on certain individuals which I wish to call to your attention. Referring to Nr. W. Y. Serrin, case #2: You will note that I have drawn a pen line around the natural drifts taken prior to the patient. It would appear from the data that these natural drifts should not be taken into consideration, but consider only the one taken after the patient. It is quite obvious that this patient is not active. In case #6, that of Mr. James W. Hedenburg, a similar condition arises with regard to natural drifts taken after the patient. The ones around which the line have been dram ahould in my opinion be disregarded. With reference to case #3, namely lrs. Asa Bacon: The data seems to indicate that the presence of radio-active materials was not detected by the presence of gamca radiation, but that the test for alpha radiation in the expired air was slightly positive. The computation, however, implies such an extremely small amount that I am wondering whether or not wo should record any values, or merely roport this as a mere trace? Your data would seem to indicate that there is little or no question regard- ing the identification of radon. In a communication from Dr. John sending me information relative to the dosagos given certain patients, he stated that he would await with interest information from you regarding your experiments in Chicago. I think probably it would be well for you to drop Dr. John a few lines and advise hin in a general way of the results found - that is to whether or not the patients were active and the extent to which they are active. In computing the amounts of activity I have used the constant 0.000086 for the gamma ray machine and 0.006 for the expired air. The information recorded regarding diagnosis etc., is that given me by Dr. John and does not include for the most part the sidelights which we obtained from the patients themselves. After you have had an opportunity to study this data I shall be glad to have you reactions as to whether or not you consider it suitable for publication. Sinceroly yours, HHBarker: :RH Vice President,
