December 18th, 1929. Dr. R. B. Moore, Dean of Science, Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana. Dear Dr. Moore: This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of December 13th, enclosing copy of letter addressed to the Bailey Radium Laboratories, as well as the Radithor bulletin. The Bailey Radium Laboratories have been engaged during the past few year in the distribution of a preparation supposedly sold thru the medical profession only for use in connection with conditions where radio-active materials are indicated. I am informed that at one time they did a rather prosperous business, but during the past year or so the business has been materially effected by the publicity given the cases in New Jersey. I am further advised that at the present time they are somewhat disposed to discontinue operations, and I believe that there is little occasion for us to worry about their continuing in this line of endeavor. Public opinion has been so aroused that I believe it would hardly be feasible for anyone to get very far in recommending the promiscuous internal administration of radium. You will doubtless have noticed in the papers that one of the five girls who brought suit a year ago last Spring, passed away recently. This has been the occasion of considerable more publicity, and will probably mean that more suits will be started. With kind regards, I am Sincerely yours, Vice President. HHBarker:RH
