Dear Mr. Pesinger:
In accordance with the understanding arrived at
in lr. Smith's office in Jersey City yesterday afternoon, we have
this morning sent check to Mr. Smith made to the order of Potter
and Berry in the amount of $8000.00, which represents full settle-
ment and satisfaction of the Canfield case against the United States
Red. un Corporation.
It is understood that the New Amsterdam Casualty
Company, and the Globe Indemnity Company will each send us a check for
1/3 of the $8000.00 above mentioned.
lie wish to go on record that we do not recognize
the method of division proposed by you as an equitable one, and
therefore, our contributing 1/3 towards the settlement of the above
case is in no way to be interpretated as prejudicial to our right
to denand contributions from the Insurance Companies involved based
on coverage.
