535 Pearl Street,
MAY 19 1931
New York City.
Dear Mr. Lee:
I acknowledge receipt of your favor of the
llth with enclosures referred to therein. As stated in my
telephonic talk with you a few days ago, I do not think it wise
to answer the letter from Mr. Milton M. Unger, the attorney, at
this time. You should first ascertain from Dr. Humphries whether
he has lost control of this woman. If he has, then it will be
time enough to get in touch with Mr. Unger. If he has not,
we
should then get in contact with her through Dr. Humphries and
not through her attorney.
It would be better for Mr. Barker to conduct
the negotiations with Dr. Humphries so that it will not appear
that this firm is dealing with Mr. and Mrs. La Porte. Of course,
if these people disclaim Mr. Unger's representation then it will
be all right for me to confer with them.
With kindest regards,
sincerel y yours
