Dr. Herman Schlundt,
University of Missouri,
Columbia, Mo.
Dear Dr. Schlundt:
I have your letter of December 2nd, with reference
to exemination of patients at Elgin State Hospital.
Our general financial condition, as well as the
fact that Nr. Lee spenda the Holiday season with his family in Florida,
I am afraid will preclude my participating in the tests to be conducted
at Elgin.
I have today written Mr. Armstrong, as per copy of
letter attached which is quite self-explanatory, and I presume that
lir. Armstrong will communicate directly with you regarding the dates
you have suggested.
While we have several emanation chambers which are
usable for our work, still I presume their natural leake is higher
than those which you have, and in fact so high that I would consider
them wholly unusable for work such as will be conducted at Eigin.
I think Dr. Flinn has some good instruments, but I hesitate to ask him
for the loan of same. You will probably be able to determine better
as to how much equipment you will need when Mr. Armstrong advises you
as to the number of people who are to be tested.
2: Armstrong is quite upset over Dr. Martland's
article, and feels that this article is slowing up the use of radium
internally materially, and is anxious that some complete data be
obtained on the Elgin group, with the hope that same may moredefinitely
establish the merits of radium internally.
Sincerely yours,
Vice President.
