COLLINS & CORBIN COUNSELLORS AT LAW CLEMENT K. CORBIN ROBERT J. BAIN EDWARD A. MARKLEY CHARLES w. BROADHURST 1 EXCHANGE PLACE, HOWARD F. MC INTYRE JAMES E. EMORY JERSEY CITY, N. J. PATRICK F. MC DEVITT JOHN F. LEONARD JOHN P. GILMARTIN JAMES J. LANGAN ADOLPH s. HUMMEL February 25, 1932. Hoare V. U. S. Radi um Corporation. Chas. Stockdell Gray, Esq. Counsel, Globe Indemnity Co. 20 Washington Place, Newark, N. J. H. H. Barker, Esq., Vice Pres. U. S. Radium Corp. 535 Pearl Street, New York City. FEB 26 1932 Gen tl enen: I appeared thi S morning before the Supreme Court (Judge Dungan) in the above case on motion of the plaintiff to advance the case for trial. Judge Dungan did not decide the motion but held it pending production of the plaintiff's family physician for the purpose of testifying as to her personal physical condition. If he finds that her con ition is critical then he may advance the trial of the case. The plaintiff and her sister had been living in the e ourt house in Newark for the past three weeks. Her 8 ister is a ward politician in Newark and is using all of her supposed influence to expedite the trial of this case. These women have made life miserable for the plaintiff's attomeys and for the court attendants as well as causing considerable annoyance to the judges. Mrs. Hoare insists, as does her sister, that the case be tried 1 mediately. Mrs. Hoare looks as though she might be ill. She is very thin and anemic looking and from talking to her I think that she has, as far as I could tell, the usual classical symptoms. She has a mouth condition and a joint condition; at least, she claims she has. Her doctor is Dr. De Vincentis of Newark and he will appear in court within the next day or two for the purpose of giving his testimony as to her present physical condition. I thought this case could be settled for $3000. but the plaintiff's attorneys have been unable to persuade her to take that sum. I think it could be settled for $5000. and possibly for $4000. Please advise whether you care to pay any- thing in addition to the $3000. already authorized. Your S very truly, EAM: AG 66 manaley
