Meeting with Mr. Bach, State Insurance Co., Mr. Paul and nurse,
January 22, 1942
Mr. Bach and I had a good talk and were later joined by Mr. Paul. Mr.
Bach made the suggestion that a record be kept of causes of accidents rather
than too much emphasis on rate per plant. The plants had 10 reportable acci-
dents and five "lost time" accidents from January lst to October lst, 1941. Mr.
Bach will come to the plant about one time a month for review of causes of
accidents.
I discussed means of recording accident causes with Miss Reid. She
planned to consider the matter and let me know how she feels this might best be
handled. Miss Blaisdell suggested starring accidents that were reported, but
Mr. Bach feels that even the minor accident causes should be studied as well. To
write up the accident and cause in detail is quite time consuming but of course
necessary on the individual record. However, if some duplicate record is to be
made for the accident prevention study, it seems to me that it would involve
considerable work. Perhaps some method of cross index filing might be used.

I received a note from Miss Reid about this today. Her plans sound
satisfactory.
