Attn: District Internal Security Officer
Gentlemen:-
For a number of years medical officers of the Navy have been
trained from time to time at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia Univer-
sity, in matters pertaining to industrial hygiene. As most of these medical officers
are eventually assigned to bases where radioactive self-luminous compound is used for
repair purposes, it has been the practice to bring the group to our plant to observe
operations as we conduct them. This is because our equipment and general practice
is considered more or less as the standard from the safety standpoint.
We have just received a request from Dr. Frederick B. Flinn
who is training the group and who also happens to be our advisor on health matters to
visit our plant with the group on May 3rd at 2:00 P.M. The time required will only be
approximately one hour. The doctors will be escorted by officers of this Corporation
and will be diverted from any units operating on confidential or classified work. If
there is no objection on your part to this visit, we would like to have official
authorization in advance.
The hames and ranks of the officers in the group are as follows:
Lt. Simon L. Shick, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. John J. Keating, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Horace F. Morey, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Andrew J. Oberlander, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Robert J. Quimby, MC-V(G), USNR.
Lt. Joseph J. Sawicki, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Edward H. Wyman, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. (1g) Manfred R. Couch, MC-V(G), USNR.
Lt. Comdr. Edward H. Taylor, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Comdr. Ernest D. Ponzer, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Emil B. Kuhe, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Glenn D. Hutchinson, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Comdr. Max J. Schwartz, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Comdr. Samuel L. Hornstein, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. Comdr. Edward A. Madick, MC-V(S), USNR.
Lt. William M. Howell, MC-V(S), USNR.
Very truly yours,
President
