REAUMONT,TEXAS:(var.ses.
Date Jan of 2y22,1947
the ship "PORT OF BEAUMONT"--loading for expedition,
day and night--see crates of food,etc.piled on dock--ditto equipment
--scs.of demolished,fully-equipped Beechcraft plane which had been
loaded aboard and then a welded hook broke loose and plane crashed to
deck-completely lost--var.scs. of girls of Beaumont who took on the
job of training dogs for the expedition--they used the local ice rink
and a Navy CPO Sigmund Gutenko(loaned to the expedition by USN)shous
gals how--var.scs. of training-sgirls and dogse-var.scs. of the Chief,
later on board ship,with ship's flag which had been presented by the
Ladies of mikes, (silent)Cdr.and Mys.Finn Ronne(he's in
