The Honorable William Jefferson Clinton
President of the United States
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC 20500
Dear Mr. President:
Like so many others, I was thrilled at the announcement of your $21 billion dollar
child care initiative. If shines a bright light on your ongoing commitment to early
childhood development. And though I know the child care package will play
an important part in your upcoming State of the Union address, I think it's
important to frame it as part of that continued commitment to a healthy start
for our youngest children.
The connection of child care to your education goals, which were so eloquently
discussed in last year's State of the Union, would give things a sense of continuity
and would reinforce the critical importance of giving our children the strong
foundation from which to grow into productive members of society. You will
have also planted the seeds for a new, enlightened way of attacking social ills.
Again, I'm sure you've considered all of this, but just in case, I'll put this little bug
in your ear.
Sincerely,
Amb Rein Rub Rein
Rob Reiner
P.S. We're SO happy to be working with the First Lady on the launch of our child
care campaign this spring.
