NATIVE AMERICAN AGING ORGANIZATIONS
The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging also represents the 190 Native
American organizations funded under Title VI of the Older Americans Act. Since Fiscal
Year 1980, the Administration on Aging has awarded funds to federally recognized Tribes and
organizations serving Native Alaskans and Hawaiians to provide supportive and nutrition
services to their elders. Unlike Area Agencies on Aging, the majority of Tribes and other
Native American organizations are direct providers of these services. However, they are per-
mitted to provide services through either grant or contract.
