Dear Lieutenant Governor Siegelman:
Thank you for your recent correspondence recommending Fred Cowan for a position
on the Federal Communications Commission. I appreciate your assistance in identifying
qualified candidates for appointment by the President.
I am aware of Mr. Cowan's qualifications for this position, and he was recently
interviewed by the Director of Presidential Personnel, Bob Nash. I can assure you that he is
under serious consideration for this position, however, no decision has yet been made. I will
keep you informed of any developments in the filling of this important position.
