The hoped for result of the activities is to reach at least 3,000 of the approximate 15,500 people in the Humphreys county region, 2,000 of which are students and 1,000 being adult participants. The anticipated log of 500 service hours is expected as a result of the outreach program to culminate in a sense of community pride in various groups of the county while educating the groups on environmental issues. 3. The quality of these activities will be measured by a log of an additional 100 activity hours or service hours performed by community organizations. Indirect benefit to 5 communities and surface and groundwater users in the 25 watersheds. 25 CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL SERVICE COMMUNITY SERVICE OBJECTIVES 25-22 GRANTEE: USDA Soil Conservation Service SITE: Middlebourne, West Virginia COMPONENTS OF OBJECTIVE STATEMENTS: Objective 3: Provide limited resource communities with improved leadership capabilities and public process assistance to the end of developing natural resource conservation and development projects that improve the standard of living in the tri-county area. 1. What work will be done? What service activities will your participants engage in? Assistance to limited resource communities on their natural resource conservation needs, and water quality or quantity needs. Assistance with identification, planning, financing, and implementing local projects. 2. What is the hoped for result of the work/activities described above? Improved environment and standard of living for limited resource rural residents through local natural resource project development and implementation. 3. How will you measure the quality of your product or impact of your service? Local projects developed or assisted. 4. By what standard will you gauge success? Number of projects assisted and implemented. Goal of 2 major project activities during the service year. 5. How many individuals will receive the benefit of the work your participants perform? Two rural limited resource communities will benefit from the service which will impact a minimum of 50 families in the area directly.
