ROB HOPE PRESIDENTIAL SHOW Perret/Bolton
1
MRS. CLINTON TEXT #1;
MRS. CLINTON
My husband and I have known Bob
Hope for MOME time. we consider
him not only a good friend, but
also a national treasure. Laughter
has always been an important part
of OUI American heritage and Bob is
our main source.
Bill played in Bob Hope's
Desert Classic golf tournament last
year, and had a great time.
I think that's one of the
parks of becoming President of the
United States -- you get to play
golf with BOD Hope.
of course, I can't tell you
what Bill's score was that day,
though. Even HOD Hope knows there
are certain things you just don't
joke about.

MRS. CLINTON TEXT #2:
MRS. CLINTON
When A President takes the cath of
office. he inherits Bob Hope. It
decen't matter whether you're
Republican, Democrat, Independent
or whatever, you become the subject
of Bob's monologues.
Bob has kidded Bill about his
saxophone playing, eating at
McDonalds's, his jogging, his golf.
I never realized that Bob
Hope and I had BD much In common.
BOB HOPE PRESIDENTIAL SPECIAL
QUESTIONS FOR MRS. CLINTON
Has Bob Hope ever visited you in the White House?
Since he's been to the White House so much over the years, who do you
think would give a better tour? You and the President? Or Bob Hope?
Bob Hope is known as an excellent golfer. How nervous do you think the
President was when he played golf with him?
Would you ever want to play golf with Bob Hope and one of the Presidents?
Do you think Bob Hope gets to see another side of the President than most
people?
What was your impression when meeting Bob Hope for the first time?
How do you feel when Bob Hope takes what you and the President do -- and
continually makes jokes of it?
Some people say Bob Hope would've made a great President. What do you
think?
What was the funniest thing that ever happened when you were with Bob
Hope?

OPENING
MONOLOGUE/
(BOB HOPE)
HOPE
Thank you, thank you very much.
Thank you. Hi, this is Bob Hope
saying, Clinton's going to Washington;
Arkansas folks are thrilled to the core;
They won't have to hear him practice
On that saxophone anymore.
Having a saxophone player in the
White House could be interesting.
He may not pull us out of the
recession, but you know while the
country's singing the blues, he can
just play along.

And you know the first pet's going
to be a cat now. That's interesting.
This is probably the first time a cat's
chased a dog out of the house.
Clinton's looking forward to enter-
taining leaders from other countries.
I just hope Boris Yeltsin likes okra
and catfish.
Maybe Clinton could make David Copper-
field Secretary of the Treasury. If he
can make an elephant disappear, do you
think maybe he can do the same for the
deficit? Huh?

HOPE (CONT'D)
Now, Bill Clinton could be the first
president sworn in at the inaugural
wearing a top hat with "John Deere"
written on it. That's one of my
favorite jokes.
HOPE (CONT'D)
And can you believe the lines to
see Santa? Santa's having to make
more promiss than Bill Clinton.

HOPE (CONT'D)
And the way Bill Clinton plays the
saxophone, he's not selecting a
cabinet he's looking for sidemen.
No, leave it to a politician to
be good at playing a wind instrument.
Bill Clinton will spend a lot of
time jogging around Washington.
I'm not saying he doesn't look
too good in his jogging shorts,
but the Lincoln Statue has his
hands over his eyes.
You know, Bill Clinton is going to
take a bus to the inauguration.
What happened? John Sununu hasn't
returned the limo yet.
Imagine Bill Clinton riding a bus
to the inauguration. Thank
goodness. I thought he might
drive a tractor.

HOPE (CONT'D)
Clinton loves to make long speeches.
In fact, this could be the first,
really be the first inaugural
address with an intermission.
Yes sir, Bill Clinton will have an
open house at the White House after
the inauguration. That means
anyone can go in even Republicans.
The Clintons wanted to invite the
public into their new home. But
Hillary said, "Fine, they can come
in but I'm not going to bake anything
for them.' "
The Democrats want everybody to come
and visit the White House. They never
know when they'll get the chance again.

I'm a little suspicious. I think he
just wants us to help him unpack.
I can't believe all the bowl games
that are going on this year. There's
the Sugar Bowl, the Orange Bowl, the
Peach Bowl are they playing football
or making marmalade?
I haven't seen so much pigskin since
Miss Piggy came out with a book like
Madonna's.
I think they should combine all the
bowl games into one. Put 140 football
teams on one field and then let them
fight it out. Do you want tickets for
that? I can get them for you.
Thank you.
