(10:30) After taking some star observations with Larry, I turn in. A can of sterno has taken the chill off our tent and it is very comfortable, even on solid rock. AUGUST 26- Friday (7 PM) We set out from the camp at Cleft Rock three days ago in a good gale that rocked the whaleboat end over end all morning. We went through ice several times but it was never very heavy and we made a good run- slept on a beach that night. Going on the next day (yesterday) we reached our cache at Cape Dorches- ter last night, and it was a welcome sight. A note was there awaiting us with news that the MORRISSEY, after being stuck in ice off Spicer Islands and going aground on the east side of Fox Basin, had been here five days ago and started for Spicer Island again. We camp hereuntil Larry can get the best observations pos- sible to determine the latitude and longitude of this point, for there are to be some radical changes in the map of this part of the country.
