HUMILITY
RESPECTFULLY DEDICATED
TO ALL IN TROUBLE.
God of Mercy I God of Love 1
Look Thou down from Heaven above;
Take me gently by the hand,
Lead me to the better land.
When the morning sun shall rise,
To illumine earth and skies,
Let my soul go out to Thee,
Over life's tempestuous sea.
Midst the tempest's thunderous roar,
My poor heart would strive to soar,
All my earthly shackles break,
And every sinful tie forsake.
Knowing that I soon must die,
Lord to Thee my soul would fly
Seeking comfort every day,
While I tread life's narrow way.
Heart nigh broken, sick and sore,
Over loved ones gone before,
Come dear Saviour, heal and bless,
Help me, in my deep distress.
Days have come and years have flown,
Yet, I am not left alone,
Though life's storms do vex my soul,
And the billows o'er me roll,
In the depths I always feel,
Thou art ever with me still,
Guiding my weak footsteps on,
Till I reach my heavenly home.
Then in Heaven, home at last,
And forgetting all the past,
There with loved ones, safe and blest,
I shall forever, be at rest.
