Letter from Joseph Avery Howland, Worcester, Mass., to Samuel May, Oct. 9, 1887

Howland discusses the correspondence that he and Oliver Johnson received in connection with Johnson's review of Eli Thayer's book. He mentions particularly the letters of Hon. George S. Boutwell and former Governor Charles Robinson. Johnson quotes Robinson, who likens the Garrisonians to John the Baptist.
