GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE 16-61120-1 Dr. Guillermo Sevilla-Sacasa, Nicaraguan Ambassador to the United States and Delegate to the IAM, called this morning. After an exchange of the usual pleasantries, the Ambassador said that as Dean of the Latin American Diplomatic Corps, he had been commissioned to invite me to the reception which the Foreign Ministers were giving for me on Saturday, April 7, which, he said, would be attended by from 3,000 to 4,000 persons. The Ambassador, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, also asked me to invite President Truman to the banquet to be given in his honor on the same day at the Hotel Carlton. I thanked the Ambassador on behalf of the President and myself for the kind invitations and asked him to be good enough to express my appreciation to his colleagues. The Ambassador inquired whether I thought it would be possible for him briefly to see the President to extend to him direct the invi- tation to the Foreign Ministers' banquet. I said I would be glad to mention it to the President, but that in view of his very tight schedule and the visit of President Auriol I was rather doubtful that a meeting could be arranged. The Ambassador said he realized this fully. The Ambassador
