Information in file bearing on future use of Princeton material. 2/28/55 from Robt. Oppenheimer: Ihope that you will not be appalled and discouraged by the present state of the transcript, and that you will find it possible to get it to such a point of cleanness that it can be useful to scholars in times to come. (offered to be of help; DA never worked beyond a few pages of first Princeton seminar. ) 5/17/54 to Robl.Oppenheimer from DA 3. I have been thinking over our conversation about U.S. SECONDAND the transcript of our seminar. The basis on which we held these seminars was that there would be only one transcript which would be in my possession. That was the understanding on which I invited my colleagues to join me. I don't think it would be right or wise to change the rules. For that reason I think it would be best if we stayed with the original understanding. 9/16/53 DA to George Perkins Our plan of procedure is for me to tell a portion of the story as I recall it with interruptions for correction and clarity. Then to have the participants tell what happened from their angle and to bring out the significant aspects, review dedisions and possible alternatives, and draw any conclusions possible. The idea is not to write history but to aid those who may some day do so.
