Dear Mary:
I have three unanswered letters from you and as usual I've
gotten behind with my personal correspondence,
I am glad that you had a good time in Saint Louis and I was
also most happy to hear that you arrived home safely. You
see I keep up with you whether I write you promptly or not.
Vivian called me last night apparently worried about my health
and welfare. I hadn't heard from him for two weeks and I guess
he thought it was about time he got in touch with me.
Bess and Margaret had quite a trip South - the train went off the
tracks ahead of their train and they had to send a car to get them
to Biloxi. The train they were supposed to take from Biloxi to
New Orleans was cancelled and the people in New Orleans had
to send a car for them, in order to get them there in time to do
the job today. I talked to them last night about ten thirty and I
think they have about come to the conclusion that trains are about
as uncertain as planes.
I went to dinner for General Eisenhower last night down at the
Army Building and I am going back there today to pin a Medal
on him, as this is his last day as Chief of Staff.
I hope you won't take any more automobile trips on icy roads -
planes are a lot safer.
Will call you torkoran
Lose to you Many
