G-3 MEMORANDUM NO. 40:
905
1. Pursuant to instructions from Second Army the remainder
of the period in the present area will be devoted primarily to
the necessary details of preparing and turning in equipment and
to such policing as will insure that the entire area will be left
in the best possible condition. Organization commanders, there-
fo re, are authorized to suspend or modify the training schedules
for the week of February 3rd, as already submitted by them, to
the extent necessary to carry out the above purposes. The regu-
lar schedule will be followed, however, whenver time is available.
2. Organization commanders will impres, up on the men of
their command that the departure of the division, both from this
area and from the Le MANS area; will depend largely upon the
reports of inspectors on conditions existing in the areas.
Every
effort must be made at once to get all equipment in the best
possible condition and the whole area carefully policed in order
that the division may be reported ready to move at any moment.
3. A report as to how much of G.O. 236, G.H.Q., has been
carried out during the week is required by Headquarters IX Corps
and Second Army. Each organization commander will therefore
report by noon, Saturday, February 8th, an estimate of the number
of hours which have been devoted to carrying out the training
schedule during the past week. Practice hikes and marches to
competitions, etc., will be counted as part of the training.
