ACHESON
U. N. Security Council had a private meeting yesterday in which
Malik said he was carrying out his instructions from Moscow. In the
open meeting Austin did a good job.
JOHNSON
Has re-instated policy of not calling Reserves who are elected
officials in House & Senate.
MCGRATH
Is going to ask that bail for the 11 convicted Communists be
withdrawn as Court has held that they are a danger to national security.
THE PRESIDENT
Is going to go over this appropriation bill with House Chairman
Cannon. Is going to give him strong language on 10% horizontal (?)
cut in Executive appro priation - cut in ECA funds and the granting of
a loan to Spain which is hurting us with our allies in Western Europe
who think we are abandoning our Defense lines and may move our line
to the Pyrenees.
