82-7 October 28, 1947 Dear Mr. Foltz: The President has asked me to thank you for your letter of October 21st. He appreciates your thoughtfulness in writing as you did. I am sorry it is not possible to comply with your request for an autographed picture of the President. X72-7 As you know, there is to be a special session of the Congress next month, and, in order to give his full attention to the many problems confronting him in connection with this session, the President has asked that his friends excuse him from all autographing for the time being. I am sure you will understand and will wish to cooperate. With all good wishes, Sincerely yours, MATTHEW J. CONNELLY Secretary to the President aje Mr. Charles J. Foltz 250 Fulton Avenue x Hempstead, New York
