Dear Mr. Foltz:
The President has asked
me to thank you for your letter of
October 21st. He appreciates your
thoughtfulness in writing as you did.
I am sorry it is not possible
to comply with your request for an
autographed picture of the President.

As you know, there is to be a special
session of the Congress next month,
and, in order to give his full attention
to the many problems confronting him
in connection with this session, the
President has asked that his friends
excuse him from all autographing for
the time being. I am sure you will
understand and will wish to cooperate.
