Dear Mrs. Ross:
From time to time, Charlie and I talked about some of
the most important decisions I have had to make as
President, and Charlie wrote up the notes of our con-
versations at my request. I asked him to do this be-
cause I wanted a complete and accurate record kept so
that historians in the future will know what the true
facts were.
I am writing you at this time to let you know about this
and to say that I hope you will see that these notes and
the other records of Charlie's distinguished career are
properly preserved. I know how easy it is to let old
files be thrown out and I just wanted you to know that
Charlie's are too valuable and too important for anything
ever to happen to them.
Mrs. Truman and I think of you often and we hope that
the coming year will be one which brings the kind of
peace we all pray for.
Sincerely yours,
TREMAN
