WASHINGTON 25, D. C.
SPECIAL ESTIMATE
CONSEQUENCES OF THE TERMINATION, UNDER
THE TERMS OF THE BATTLE ACT,
OF US AID TO DENMARK
SE-31*
THE PROBLEM
To estimate the consequences in Denmark and elsewhere of
the termination, under the terms of the Battle Act, of US aid
to Denmark, on the basis of the delivery of a new tanker by
Denmark to the USSR.
SCOPE
Part I of this estimate considers the consequences of an
indefinite termination of US aid to Denmark under the circum-
stances stated above. Part II of this estimate considers the
extent to which the adverse effects herein estimated would be
avoided or mitigated if (1) termination is closely followed by
US notice to the Danish Government that US aid would be rein-
stated on stated conditions, and if (2) the Danish Government
accepts the stated conditions and US aid is reinstated within
a short period.
*
The intelligence organizations of the Departments of State,
the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Joint Staff partici-
pated with the Central Intelligence Agency in the preparation
of this estimate. All members of the Intelligence Advisory
Committee concurred in this estimate on 2 July 1952.
