SERVICE"
My dear Princess Elizabeth:
I have received, through the American Ambassador
in Canada, the signed copy of your remarks made at the
time of your visit to Washington when you presented to
me as a gift from the King the overmantel for the White
House,
I am very glad to have the document for the archives
of the White House as a permanent record of this historic
occasion and in perpetual memory of a gracious act of
friendship.
Mrs. Truman, Margaret and I send to you and to His
Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, our best wishes
for a Happy New Year.
Sincerely yours,
Her Royal Highness
The Princess Elizabeth,
Clarence House,
London, England.
