II d. 25th Infantry Division: CP is at Masan. The 24th RCT is located approximately 5 miles northwest of Masan. The 27th RCT has reverted to division control and is in line along an arc from the vicinity of 4 miles east of Tundok, southward 4 miles, thence westward about 2 miles. The 35th RCT closed in its new zone from Wonbung southward along the railroad for 3 miles, relieving the 19th RCT. The 5th Infantry RCT is in the vicinity of Masan. The 1st and 2d Battalions of the 29th Infantry Regiment reorganized in the Masan area. All units of the 29th have arrived in their newly organized zone. Divi- sion Artillery: the 555th Field Artillery Battalion was attached; the 159th Field Artillery Battalion reverted to division control. The 89th Medium Tank Battalion (less Company A) is enroute to Masan to be attached to the Division. (FECOM) (SECRET) e. The 1st (Provisional) Marine Brigade arrived in an area 5 miles northeast of Masan. f. EUSAK reserve: The 9th RCT of the 2d Infantry Division is at Kyong- san. The 1st Provisional (Marine) Brigade is near Masan, (FECOM)(SECRET) g. ROK Headquarters moved to Sinnyong. I Corps CP moved to Uisong and the II Corps CP moved to Kunwi. (FECOM) (SECRET) h. The 3d ROK Division continued operations north of Yongdok. The ROK Capitol Division fought a delaying action as it moved to new positions southeast of Andong. The 8th ROK Division organized defensive positions north of Uisong. The 1st ROK Division moved its 11th Regiment from east of Sonsan to positions 5 miles east of Kumchon. The 12th Regiment of the 1st ROK Divi- sion, in position 10 miles southeast of Sangju, is in contact with the enemy. The 6th ROK Division is enroute to reconnoiter defensive positions on the north flank of the 1st ROK Division. (FECOM) (SECRET) NAVY i. USS TOLEDO (CA), DE HAVEN (DD) and SWENSON (DD) continued patrol of east coast. TOLEDO and SWENSON shelled targets in the vicinity of Yongdok at the request of shore fire control party on the night of 3-4 August. DE HAVEN shelled a North Korean supply depot 10 miles north of Yongdok. TOLEDO reported fire very effective as adjusted by the shore fire control party. During the day of 4 August, TOLEDO shelled troop concentrations in the vicinity of Yongdok, starting fires in a village to the north. Troops observed fighting fires two hours later were salvoed by TOLEDO resulting in bigger fires. (COMNAVFE) (SECRET) j. USS SICILY (CVE) provided air cover for a bombardment of Inchon conducted by HMS KENYA (CL), COCKADE (DD) and HMNS EVERTSEN (DD)
