the 18th ROK Regiment to withdraw 3,000 yards in the vicinity of Chonji, but
a counterattack by elements of the 1st Cavalry Division restored friendly

e. Enemy forces in unknown strength are reported crossing the
river at two ferry crossings about 5 miles east of Sangju and 9 miles southeast.
These crossings are about eight miles northwest of prepared defensive
positions. An enemy artillery battalion was observed on the road southeast

f. A pilot reports an enemy column moving south on the road from
Yechon to Yanggi. Elements of the 7th North Korean Division are reported in
un area 7 miles south of Andong. (FECOM) (SECRET)
g. An estimated regiment of the 5th North Korean Division continued
to engage ROK forces in the Yongdok area. (FECOM (SECRET)
h. Photo coverage reveals that on 2 August there were twenty-eight
single engine aircraft on Kimpo Airfield. Enemy air order of battle figures
as of 5 August total 63 aircraft of which 42 are fighters, the balance n-10
ground attack aircraft. This represents no build-up in the supply of North
Korean aircraft. On 4 August US bomber crews observed four single engine
aircraft taking off from Kimpo Airfield. However, no effort was made to engage

GROUND
a. 1st U.S. Cavalry Division: CP remains at Taegu. Division units
continued patrolling and defending its zone. From north to south, the order of
battle is the 5th Cavalry RCT, the 8th Cavalry RCT, and the 7th Cavalry RCT
(less the 1st battalion in division reserve in the vicinity of Taegu). (FECOM)
